Welcome to another land – Jamtli Historyland!
From June 21nd to August 24th, the open air museum comes alive as actors and animals move into farms and other milieus. Every day, visitors are invited to participate in a number of exiting activities. Once you enter Jamtli Historyland, anything can happen!A few steps could take you between the 18th, 19th and 20th century, and the people you meet might come from eras others than ours. Role-playing is used to show how people lived and worked, how they cooked, looked after their animals or ran business.
Every day during the Historyland-season, a guided walk through history (in English) departs from the square at 14:00.
This year’s theme:
Children and childhood through history
Childhood has not always been what it is today. This year, we focus on differences and similarities in the way children have been thought of - and treated. What we call child labour today was perhaps seen as a natural part of education in 1895? Compulsory schooling was introduced in Sweden in 1942, but did the system really include everyone?
Learn more about the history of childhood at Jamtli this summer.
A good deal!
