Welcome to "The wild Hov"!

This autumn Hov goes wild, as our chef create a menu based on the wonders of Jämtland's nature: elk, reindeer and grouse, char and trout, berries and mushrooms.
Flavours are combined in unexpected yet harmonious ways, and the staff do their best to make every single visit to The Wild Hov a unique experience.

About Hov

Hov was established as a part of Jamtli open air museum as early as 1913 and it is the oldest restaurant in Östersund. In 2005, it was awarded the “Smakriktrestaurang”- label, which is granted to restaurants that excel in regional cuisine and strive to incorporate local products in their menus.

Jamtli Kafé

The pleasant café is situated right in the heart of the museum. During summer, the doors are opened to the pleasant courtyard, which is very popular on sunny days.
In wintertime, the fire in the open hearth creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Admission is free. The café serves a wide variety of delicious pastries, coffee, tea etc.

Jamtli Kafé opening hours:

June 25th – August 22nd:
open every day 11 -17
The rest of the year: Tue-Sun 11-16. Mondays closed

Café Slalom

At the far end of the open air grounds, between the croft and the mountain farm, you’ll find Café Slalom. Surrounded by forest and pasture, this is a peaceful place to rest and to have a coffee and a waffle. Originally, the café was situated by the ski slope on Frösön (the island facing Östersund), where it served skiers and others from 1937 to 1997. Due to its significance to local history, the interior was thoroughly documented and relocated to a building at Jamtli in 2006. The atmosphere is very much the same.

Café Slalom opening hours:

Café Slalom is open in the summer, during the Historyland season, and the rest of the year during special events.
